In 2011, Pharmacy Enforcement Division has successfully carried out psychotropic substance audits on 254 selected private medical clinics based on the highest purchase of psychotropic substances in each state in Malaysia. Psychotropic substances audited are classed as Benzodiazepines (Midazolam, Alprazolam, Triazolam, Diazepam), Imidazopyridine (Zolpidem) and Phenethylamine (Phenthermine). Among the key findings were irrational use / supply of psychotropic substances, specifically Midazolam. This includes supply by polypsychotropic, large quantities and long term continuous supply.
