In 2011, a permit to Purchase and Use Buprenorphine and Methadone was introduced. This is in line with the amendments to Regulation 14 of the Poisons (Psychotropic Substances) Act 1989. This amendment is intended to ensure the use of Buprenorphine and Methadone is for legitimate purposes. A total of 339 permits were approved in 2011.
