Medicine Advertisements Board

Medicine Advertisements Board (MAB) was established under the provisions of The Medicine Advertisements Board Regulations 1976. The Board was established to discuss the approval for application on medical products or healthcare facilities and services advertisement received and at the discretion, the Board may:
• Issue approval for an advertisement.
• Review, revise its policies and guidelines as necessary
• Cancel / withdraw the approval granted

Pharmacy Practice & Development Division

The Pharmacy Practice and Development Division is responsible for ensuring the quality of drug procurement and usage through effective pharmacy practice in order to improve pharmacy services in Malaysia to be on par with other developed countries. There are five branches operated under the management of Pharmacy Practice and Development Division

Our History

Pharmacy service came into existence in the country since 1951 with the enforcement of the Registration of Pharmacist Act 1951, Poisons Act 1952 and Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The primary task of the pharmacy service prior to independence was confined to the procurement, storage and distribution of drugs from the United Kingdom through the Crown Agents.

Is advertisement on aesthetic services allowed?

Aesthetic services are categorised as medical treatment and should be conducted by a registered medical practitioner. It can only be advertised by clinics/ private hospitals that are licensed/ registered by CKAPS with the approval from MAB.

Must advertisements related to services offered at fitness centers get approval from the MAB?

MAB does not approved advertisements related to services offered by fitness centers. According S4A Medicines (Advertisement and Sale) Act 1956, approval of advertisement can only be given to 4 facilities which are private clinic, private hospital, private medical laboratory and private radiological clinic operated by a registered medical practitioner having a valid annual practicing certificate under the Medical Act 1971.
